"Making It Happen"
  • The team is responsible for inspection, training and monitoring of (318) vendors in Miami-Dade County
  • Train all stores yearly in the procedures of accepting and processing WIC checks, as well as violations and regulations
  • Comprehensive audits performed in stores deemed to be high-risk vendors
  • During the past two years, this team has recovered more than $500,000 in fraudulent transactions derived from unscrupulous vendors (Note: never been done in the State of Florida)
  • Team routinely contact WIC clients to make sure they follow rules and regulations in how to properly use the WIC checks
  • Gone the extra mile by training store personnel on Saturdays and Sundays
  • Reduced the error rate to less than 1% monthly even though a volume of more than $4 million in WIC checks every month and more than 60,000 clients
