- The Nominee is considered a resident expert on evaluation of rash illnesses
- Has enviable distinction of being one of the few people who have witnessed actual Measles cases
- Performs objectives of the ÒPocket of Need ProgramÓ whereby reviews of specific medical providersÕ immunization records and vaccine storage/handling practices are audited to determine compliance/accountability
- Investigates rash illness at anytime as reported to the Office of Epidemiology or to Special Immunization Program from the Bureau of Immunizations
- When called upon to investigates cases at inopportune time, he/she never has a negative word to say
- Takes great pride and utilizes years of experience to thoroughly complete all aspects of the investigation to determine the most accurate result
- Ensures at the ÒIt'sÓ are dotted and all the ÒTÕsÓ crossed and no matter who follows up on the cases he/she investigates, thoroughness pays off as the most accurate determinant is made regarding final outcome
- Notorious regarding response to questions
- The Nominee tends to be vaguer than vague, responding with just a hint of a smile and in the quietest voice possible with the most famous saying, ÒItÕs hard to say.Ó
- It is important to note that the thoroughness and knowledge of investigating cases, as the Special Immunization Program is mandated
- To control/eliminate Measles and Haemophilus type-b (Hib) diseases in Miami-Dade County, this county has not had a reported case of Measles since 1997 due in part from the hard work and commitment of Nominee
- There were (3) imported cases and Hib disease has been reduced to one case over the past few years
- No matter what day it is or what time it is, the program has been able to call on the nominee to investigate any and all rash illnesses, work in conjunction with EPI, and CHDs as well as the State Health Office performing duties without ever once complaining about the time, day, ÒIÕm too busy or IÕll get to it tomorrow.Ó
- He has accompanied nurses and assisted them without fail
- One of the few people in the office who can definitely and correctly distinguish a measles rash from a misdiagnosed rash illness
