Meet Our Leaders



Paula Schimpf, MSN, ARNP
Director, Office of Organizational Development

Paula Schimpf is an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner who has been with the Miami-Dade County Health Department since 1993. She is currently Director of the Office of Organizational Development, which includes the Human Systems Initiative which leads our human resource activities, the Office of Performance Management which is the quality arm of the organization, and the Office of Public Health Nursing which represents nursing across the various programs.

Ms Schimpf works to represent the Miami-Dade County Health Department (MDCHD) in the community to promote nursing, form alliances and to oversee projects in partnership with community partners and other government agencies. She is a member of the Florida Association of Public Health Nurses, and of the Medical Advisory Committee the MDCHD.

Before coming to the MDCHD, Ms. Schimpf worked in mental health nursing for many years, and began her career with the Health Department in the School Health Program. She then worked in training and professional education, and finally, became Director of the Women’s Health and Preventive Services Program where she instituted our preventive dental program for children.

Ms. Schimpf received her diploma in nursing from the Massachusetts General Hospital School of Nursing, her BSN from the St. Louis University School of Nursing, and her MSN from the Florida International University College of Health Sciences.
