On Wednesday October 6th, 2004 the Miami-Dade County Health Department (MDCHD) hosted a Disaster Preparedness Seminar for Community Health Centers (CHC) at the Miami-Dade College Medical Center Campus. Topics presented to audience included: Natural Disaster Preparation Planning, Mental Health Concerns in Disasters, Incident Command System Functionality, and Community Preparedness Outreach.

Speakers for this seminar included:

Miami-Dade County Health Department: Fermin Leguen, MD, MPH; Alvaro Mejia, RN, MPH, Miguel Hidalgo, MPA

County Office of Emergency Management (COEM): Erin Mohres

The seminar was very well received and participant questions were answered and discussed by presenters. The seminar was also an opportunity to exchange disaster preparedness information and foster an even stronger network with Miami-Dade Community Health Centers (CHC).
