What is the Miami-Dade County Health Department doing in response to this outbreak?
Our goals are to reduce transmission and illness severity, and provide information to help health care providers, public health officials and the public to address the challenges posed by this new virus. We are working with the Florida Department of Health (FL DOH) and other State and federal agencies to enhance influenza surveillance in our County; we collect and analyze data to assess the impact of the virus in our community and identify groups at increased risk of complications. In addition, we disseminate CDC and FL DOH guidance for clinicians, public health professionals and the public addressing prevention and treatment issues related to the management and control of this new virus.
