Miami Coalition for Immunization

Since 1991 the Miami Coalition for Immunization, a collaboration of key partners, has raised awareness and provided information on the importance of immunizations and the benefits of vaccines in protecting our children. The coalition’s efforts have increased Miami-Dade County’s immunization rates for children from birth to two years from 61% in 1991 to becoming the first urban county in the nation to meet the national goal of Healthy People 2000 of 90% of children being fully immunized by 2 years old in the year 2000. The Coalition will endeavor to continue this trend in meeting the Healthy People 2010 goal of 90%.
