Florida State Health Improvement Plan 2012–2015

The Florida Department of Health (DOH) recently released the first State Health Improvement Plan (SHIP), a statewide plan for public health system partners and stakeholders to improve the health of Floridians for 2012-2015. The SHIP is the culmination of effort of many organizations, including representatives from County Health Departments throughout the state, who participated in assessments and workgroups to develop the plan. Four assessments were conducted and based on the results the following four strategic priorities were identified: Health Protection, Chronic Disease Prevention, Community Redevelopment and Partnerships, Access to Care, and Health Finance and Infrastructure. Inter-agency workgroups of subject matter experts around each of the Strategic Issues developed goals, strategies and objectives that the SHIP Steering Committee revised and approved.
