Office of Communication and Legislative Affairs
The Office of Communication and Legislative Affairs reports directly
to the Administrator of the Miami-Dade County Health Department (MDCHD).
This section has two persons full time, the Director of the Office
of Communication and Legislative Affairs and a Public Information
Officer.
This office coordinates all media activity for the MDCHD including providing information as requested, securing and briefing the spokes persons regarding the issues for the media, prepares press releases, press conferences, speeches, public television appearance for series, and coordinates with other public information officers when there is a message that needs to be shared.
In addition, the staff of the Office of Communication and Legislative
Affairs acts as liaisons and spokes persons on all issues regarding
county and state governments. Their responsibilities in this area
include, but are not limited to, preparing funding requests to various
funding sources to augment public health services, testifying in
committees, and preparing the necessary documentation to secure
funding. The Director of the Office of Communication and Legislative
Affairs also works hand-in hand with the Administrator on other
issues to place the MDCHD in a positive light in the community and
enhance public health funding.
