The Office of Communication and Legislative Affairs reports directly to the Administrator of the Florida Department of Health in Miami-Dade County.

This office coordinates all media activity for the Florida Department of Health in Miami-Dade County including providing information as requested, securing and briefing the spokespersons regarding the issues for the media, prepares press releases, press conferences, speeches, public television appearance for series, and coordinates with other public information officers when there is a message that needs to be shared.

In addition, the staff of the Office of Communication and Legislative Affairs acts as liaisons on all issues regarding county and state governments. Their responsibilities in this area include, but are not limited to, preparing funding requests to various funding sources to augment public health services, testifying in committees, and preparing the necessary documentation to secure funding. The Director of the Office of Communication and Legislative Affairs also works hand-in-hand with the Administrator on other issues.
